Today marked our penultimate stretch, and exhaustion is starting to catch up with us. I firmly believe that incorporating a rest day every five days on the longer Camino is crucial for sustained energy.
The day’s weather was a mix – cooler morning temperatures that gradually warmed up to the pleasant low 80s in the afternoon. Our start was delayed, waiting until 3pm to check into our cozy apartment, a delightful change from the usual hotel room. It allowed us to prepare our meals, do some laundry, catch up on Netflix, and even plan for protein-packed breakfasts that noticeably boost our daily energy.
Our surroundings hinted at hunting season, with intermittent gunshots echoing in certain areas we passed through. Memories of encountering pheasant hunters and their dogs on a previous camino came flooding back.
The scenery was a delightful blend of misty fields and lush greenery. Pilgrim numbers grew, and we encountered a moment where a bus dropped off some eager individuals to join us on part of the camino, eagerly awaiting them a few miles ahead.
Tonight’s accommodation is different in that it’s a 2 bedroom apartment. We did some laundry, cooked some pizza for dinner, and watched some Netflix.
