Day 12 – 21.1 km (13.11 miles)
Today is a rain day. The issue is that it’s also warm. So, do you put on your rain jacket to stay dry and then sweat and end up wet? Or do you just get wet without the rain jacket?
I opted for no rain jacket, until it really started pouring down rain. Because at that point the temperature started to drop. I also found out that my waterproof backpack isn’t really waterproof. I didn’t have anything that got soaked, just really damp.
All in all it wasn’t a bad day. We stopped various times for coffee and then eventually a cider (instead of beer). We walked alternating along the highway for a stretch, then the forest for a bit. We made it to Caldas de Reis with the hopes of finding a thermal pool to soak in. There is a hotel that offers a soak in their warm pool of 86 degrees for 10€, or for 18€ you can sit in the jacuzzi for 30 minutes. We opted for the free pool.
We are all tired, and with the rain, we opted to hang out in the room and watch “The Way” with Martin Sheen. It seemed appropriate.
Not many photos today. So I’ll post some of the many pools and fountains along the way.
Once again….technical difficulties. Click the link to see the video.
