I did not sleep well last night. I had a glass of ‘house’ wine with ‘dinner’ and it messed with my sinuses. That happens periodically with some wines. I ended up taking, what I thought was, an allergy pill. Nope. It was cold medicine. I could definitely breathe, but I now couldn’t sleep. According to may watch, I got a total of 4:30 sleep. Only one hour of deep sleep. So, I’m a bit tired today.
It was a beautiful hike, though, thru a beautiful, green countryside. Lots of little villages dotting the landscape. And cows. Lots of cows. I’m sure I stepped in all sorts of cow kukae along the way. It looks just like the mud that’s left over from all the rain yesterday.
We had lots of ups and downs today. Nothing drastic like yesterday. At one point, we were higher than the clouds in the valley, which always make a great photo. The pilgrim fountains are very nice in Galicia, as they have big pools of water with them.
I’m staying in a different place than Bill and Bruce. They were supposed to be staying right around the corner from me, but somehow they got moved several blocks away. Which means that they’d have to slog all the way back to my hotel to get their luggage. Bruce decided to just wash what he has, on and leave his luggage with me. Bill met me at the laundromat, which is right next to where their new place is located. We generally hand wash our stuff, which works just fine. But, it’s always nice to have machine washed and dried clothes.
I’m not going to dinner tonight. I went to the grocery store near the laundromat and picked up a sandwich and some snacks. I need some sleep.
Tomorrow we cross over the 100 kilometer point. From this point on, it is suggested that we get two stamps in our pilgrim passport each day. One at the place we stop for second breakfast or lunch, and one at our accommodation for the night.

Footnote: Got the call I have been expecting, but hoping it would be a few weeks off. Our father is not expected to last for 24 hours. I was hoping I could get there to see him before he passed. This darned COVID and the forced isolation of our elderly loved ones is crap. Yes, keep them safe……but is being alone the best thing for them? No stimulation. No exercise. No socializing. I wasn’t allowed to visit before this trip, because of risk of contamination. It’s sad. Very sad not to be able to say goodbye in person. We all talked to him on the phone, but it’s not the same thing. Thankfully the CO family is with him.
We are so saddened by Tandy’s passing. What a guy. And it is so nice to hear Allie and James talk about him and what they remember about him,. I feel so bad that;you all were not there but I know he must have been proud of you three doing what you have done. Keep up the good walk for him.
Love, Bea
